Golf Carts

Golf Carts on Dewees Island

As you approach by ferry, you will see rows of golf carts parked at the dock. Each cart belongs to a specific owner. Walk along the causeway until you find a cart with the lot number of the home you are renting.  Carts are marked with the lot number on the front and side.  Only use the carts for the lot where you are staying.  If you are arriving at night, a flashlight can be helpful for finding your cart.

If you find yourself needing to make multiple trips from the ferry dock to the house you are staying in, be sure you leave an adult with any children remaining at the dock, and that groceries and food left on the causeway are in raccoon-proof containers.

The number on each golf corresponds to the home owners lot number

Golf carts are privately owned; please only use the carts for your rental

Shuttle carts are only for homeowners and their guests; they are not for use by renters.

All drivers must be 16 and have a valid drivers license.  No one without a valid US drivers license should be driving a cart.  (The one exception to this rule is the children and grandchildren of property owners who have completed driver training through the Office of Public Safety.)  Allowing underage children to drive rental carts is grounds for losing your lease without reimbursement.

Shuttle carts are clearly marked and can't be used by renters; call us if there's any problem with your rental cart

When you are done with your golf cart, plug it in. Be sure to check to see that the needle on the charger shows that it is charging.  These carts require a a long charging time, so you should plug it in each night for use the next day.

Please use common sense and safety practices when operating golf carts:  stay on the road, avoid puddles, use hand signals, don’t race, and stay seated.

What to do if you have trouble with your golf cart
