Vast, gorgeous view of Old House Lagoon wetland
This well-appointed 2,600 square foot beach house has sweeping views over Old House Lagoon on Dewees Island, SC. The Lagoon is an important stopping point for migrating birds on the eastern flyway, you can enjoy it from windows carefully placed to capture the views, as well as porches on two levels. Fully furnished, this home is warm, inviting and just waiting for you. Kitchen, dining room, family and office as well as a screened porch and open deck are on the top floor. The Murphy bed in study can be lowered for extra sleeping. The study can be closed off to make a fourth bedroom. The first floor houses the Master suite with stunning views. There’s also a room with a twin and full bed and another bedroom with a queen bed. Each bedroom has a private bathroom. The central hallway has a futon in an intimate gathering area. There are 5 outdoor living areas — 2 screened porches, 2 open decks and a roof-top observation deck. All of the outdoor areas also have lovely furniture or hammocks. Outdoor shower at ground level to rinse sand from the beach.
Washer & dryer. Linens provided. Two golf carts come with the rental for easy transportation around the island. Orientation and nature tour included.
Dewees is a private, ferry-access only island. It is the 3rd island north of Charleston Harbor. You get to the island by catching the ferry from the private Dewees Marina parking lot on the Isle of Palms. There’s a good chance you’ll see dolphins along the way. Your golf carts will be waiting for you when you land.
There’s loads to do. Enjoy the shelling, the ocean, bodysurfing, sunbathing, the community pool, the game room at the community center, tennis, canoeing and kayaking. There’s also fishing, crabbing, shrimping and shelling. All amenities included. Please follow the island guidelines about shelling and fishing so there will be plenty for the next visitor.
Ferry rides cost $10/round trip/person.
