What if the grill/washer/air conditioning/dishwasher/heat doesn’t work?
Salt air is hard on things. Please don’t try to fix things yourself… when you take the dryer apart and put it back together and there is still a piece on the floor, you still have wet clothes and we have a problem. When we first came to the island as renters ourselves, we were really surprised that the lease said, “if stuff breaks, we will try to fix it, but there are no guarantees. “ And guess what… if stuff breaks, we will try to fix it, but there are no guarantees. Trust us, we want you to have a great experience and love the island. We have a dedicated staff and repair team who can get here quickly. But it is an island, and things go wrong sometimes. I got a chuckle once at someone who was expecting a new refrigerator. He wanted a guarantee that it would be on the 3:00 ferry. The list of what could impede that progress is long– it wouldn’t fit on the ferry, the tide would be too low to move it aboard, or too high, the truck assigned to get it to the house won’t start, it has to be pushed by dolly up four flights of stairs… some things aren’t easy on the island. But this is what makes it unique to be here. And we believe that the serenity you find when you are alone on the beach, or the joy you find on a dock when a dolphin surprises you– far outweighs the challenges of getting you (and your stuff) here. SO if something breaks, tell us ASAP– by phone, email. or text, and relax with a cold beverage while we set the wheels in motion for repairs.
