FAQ: Can I Bring My Own Boat to Dewees?

Can I bring my own boat to Dewees?

Only if you are an owner. (We would be happy to help you buy a lot or home when you get here. Seriously.) One of the parts of our environmental charter is that, other than a few homesites at the end of the island which predate our covenants, we all share a common dock. By covenant, we are prohibited from running a marina, and all boats on the Dewees Island side can be there for a maximim of 24 hours. They can’t be larger than 24 feet, and are prohibited from having a head. Space is limited, which is why only owner’s boats are allowed.

If you are a renter, and you really want to use your own boat, you would be better off renting on Goat Island or the Isle of Palms. You can rent a transient slip from the Isle of Palms Marina, but you still can’t bring the boat to Dewees. Boat trailers can not be left in the Dewees Parking lot.
